Brake Servo

The early 541s were fitted with two types of Brake servo - the horizontal Girling and the upright Clayton Dewandre type.

Clayton VOM servo

Due to problems with getting these serviced today, many cars, including mine, have been fitted with replacement servos. In addition, due to rust in the main side chassis tubes, a vacuum cannot be stored in the LHS pipe as originally intended. A replacement vacuum tank can be placed either at the back or under the bonnet as a substitute. The black "bomb shaped" tank from a 60's Jaguar (E-type) would work for this.
