Parts 1 - Dashboard

I will draw up a list of parts on the car, the suppliers and the present cost.

Dashboard:

========================================================

Indicator switch handle. Available from suppliers of MG TF parts, such as Moss Europe. The handle in mine was ivory; currently only black is in the catalogues, not white. Also need the screw as the one in mine was rusty!

Illustration from Moss Europe of unit, bezels, handle and screw.

37 AMK5607 SWITCH,turn signal,with handle 1 {TD, TF} £97.95
38 11K9308 HANDLE,turn signal switch 1 £??

The screw is a standard BA size used by Lucas - but it is the unusual 5BA size. Only even numbered BA sizes are generally sold - try model engineer suppliers.
Example of Black handle from Holden Vintage supplier.

Lever for Switch 31250 (Direction Indicator Switches)For self cancelling Indicator Switch 31250.
Part number 020.046
each
Price:
£ 12.00 (ex VAT) (- I have a quantity of new levers which have lost their glossy finish for £5 incl plus a little for postage.)

Example of Ivory Handle (from Ebay USA)

NOS Lucas turn signal switch lever for MG TD TF Ivory US $25.16

Note that the MGA lever is a different shape, having a hooked end instead of a triangular wedge shape.
=====================================================

Reversing Switch

A Trico item - clear illuminating switch in 12V or 6V versions, and red or clear bulbs.

Codes : PS2A, 3A, 4A, 7A, 33A - not sure which of these is wired correctly."Pilot Light Switch".

May also be sold as a Jaguar XK150?? Overdrive dashboard switch - a few models in the late 50's. Expensive!

================================================

Over drive switch

A strange choice for a British car, with cream base (sometimes painted black), flexible plastic stalk and cream knob. Made by German company Hella and sold for Isetta 3-wheelers. Available as a flasher, indicator or dipper with differing connections / action.In the original Jensen parts book, it is called a "Hella switch" which confirms the maker.

Stocks rare.

Update: Now found

This item is a HELLA switch as found on BMW Isettas in the 50's. (bubble cars). The ivory plastic is in fact a soft shell over the bakelite base, and the polyamide handle flexes when used!

I have bought a switch, but it does not have a latching action so is more suited to, say, headlamp flasher or windscreen squirter.

Note this is not the item described as a Bosch 48 as this has a metal shaft.

Some users have modified the switch with alternative parts to fix a broken shaft - a length of car aerial should work fine!
